Hello. Thank you for visiting our blog. This is Dennis and Tammy. Our hope is to start the great loop in June 2024 from our dock in Clayton, NY, in the heart of the Thousand Islands. Over 25 years ago, we purchased our first Carver 28 foot cruiser to start the boating lifestyle when the children were young. We boated out of Morristown, NY, where the Three Sister islands are the first of the Thousand Islands region. Our current boat is a 1996 Carver 430 CPMY. It needed a lot of work after our purchase 5 years ago which included long hours of work with the help of many people. We are finally ready to shove off. Our boat name, “Exodus,” comes from the second book of the Bible and means “departure” or “the road out.” It is so fitting, then and now.
We hope to be in Florida around the 1st of December 2024. We will take the boat out of the water at that time, since we have a house in Florida, and then recommission around the 1st of April to complete the Eastern seaboard, returning to the Thousand Islands. One 4-legged crew member is Nelson, named after Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson. He’s having a little trouble with cannon fire, also known as thunder, but he is working on it. The other is Ivy who stays largely in the background.
We look forward to sharing this experience with you as we travel this route.
